Calling all parents or people with manners. Earlier in the week HHgirl and I went to Gymboree in the morning and then headed over to the Bella Salon. Since I am leaving on Holiday Friday I figured I should get the works. So my hope was that HHgirl would be easily entertained or take her morning nap. No nap. Mildly entertained.
There was a sweet women who was talking and asking questions about my baby girl. This behavior is always welcome. Who doesn't love when people tell you how cute your spawn is or anything else positive. We love it. Makes us mommies feel good.
Of course, there is always nay sayers lurking. The ones who are just sure that you didn't read the parent manual or should not be able to have children without supervision.
This women of less then feminine sorts was sitting enjoying her pedi. Or enjoying staring at me and HHgirl.
We were sitting enjoying our day, myself probably more then HHgirl. We did just go to gymboree though.
I hand her a pair of Mardi gras beads. These beads were from HHgrandma. HHgirl loves the beads. They are huge purple dice beads. Now, I know they might not be the ideal FDA, parent magazine, what have you approved toy, but she likes them.
I hand her the beads.
Glare.
More glaring.
women to gal doing pedicure: It really just worries me when moms give their children beads like that. Speaking in a voice loud enough for me to hear. Note that she is talking to the pedicure gal about her feelings. Not me.
Me: look up and smile at her.
Women giving pedicure: Looking blankly at advise giver. She clearly doesn't understand English (or is acting like she doesn't understand, in an effort to avoid getting involved)
I knew it was eating the women up inside, because she was just dying to tell me how inappropriate I was in giving my child these beads.
After staring at me and HHGirl for at least 15 minutes she finally mustered up enough nosiness or what ever.
women: Wow, she really is working hard to get those beads undone. She must really want to get those beads undone.
Don't you think she will chock.
She really wants to get those beads undone.
HHmomma: actually I think she really is intersted in looking at the colors and hearing the noise.
Just as I say this She drops the beads.
End of story.
What is with people and their unsolicited advise on children? Does this happen to you?
Do you think these advise givers even have children?
My friend just experienced this getting her daughters ears peirced. Of course, it was people walking by saying what a horrible mother she was for doing so. I think everyone is always in everyone else's business. It's the world we live in! People need to get their own business!

Don't you just hate it when other people think they know what is best for every other child in the world. The same thing happens to me all the time.
I actually think that they do have children and so they think that they have license to tell everyone else how to raise theirs.
She must live a truly boring and uneventful life. My babies love beads from the casino too.

people just like to get their two cents in.... they must not be able to sleep at night, if they dont give out advise.
